It is easy to start feeling negative about our profession when being faced with the many challenges of pharmacy: declining reimbursements, long hours, lack of provider status, corporate monopolization, etc. I certainly fall into that trap of negativity at time.
But then, I try to remind myself: I have a very well-paying job.
I have not only access to great healthcare, but the KNOWLEDGE to make informed healthcare decisions for myself and my loved ones.
Therefore, I have ENOUGH.
As a way to show gratitude for the ABUNDANCE that God has given, I am super proud to announce our new affiliation with a Indian rural development organization AshaKiran.
AshaKiran means "Ray of Hope" in Telugu. This organization is working with an Untouchable "DALIT" (meaning Broken and Crushed) community in rural India.
The director of the program reached out to me because of my presence on LinkedIn and Global Medical Mission Health Conference website.
"Health services in India are very poor and as such we are serving in a region where there is dire need of medical and health care.
AshaKiran is located in the State of Andhra Pradesh which is known as the Rice Bowl of India.
Rice is the staple food of this region and as such many people there are afflicted with diabetes. India has one of the highest number of people with diabetes.
We have a few volunteers who are voluntarily coming from the surrounding villages to help with their community health programs. If we can pay them some honorarium to encourage them and as per the need we can have few more volunteers added."
When I questioned him about the best ways to aid their program he answered:
Here is a link to their recent Medical Camp program (YouTube Link):

And a link to their Community Health Education program (YouTube Link):

I will continue to work with them to develop their programs and promise to donate 5% of each new enrollment in the Pharmapreneur Academy to their organization.
We can aid other healthcare providers in making a difference in this community through their rural health diabetic education program. I hope you will take a moment today and reflect upon all the BLESSINGS that you have been given as well.
If you are feeling called to donate: Click here to learn more about their programs and I would be glad to put you in touch with the director of Asha Kiran.
